8156a是单模和多模应用的一种高性能衰减器。
可以选择所希望的回波损耗性能（可达60db）。可选的13db监测输出使您可以测量该衰减器输出处的入号功率。利用共内置后向反射器模式和一个外部参考反射器（81000br），8156a可被用作一个可编程后向反射器，以测量元件和系统对反射的灵敏度。
衰减范围在1250nm和1650nm之间是60db，具有0.001db的分辨率。新颖的单滤波器设计使仪表无须进行距离调整。从而完全消除暗点或潜在的衰减过冲或下冲。典型的衰减精度优于±0.05db,同时偏振灵敏度小于0.02db p-p。
